Bringing hope back to Abyei

Caritas South Sudan and Caritas members worldwide have been working for the last three years with the people of Abyei, a contested border area between Sudan and South Sudan.

Conflict between the two countries forced thousands of people to flee in 2011. A ceasefire that year and a UN peacekeeping force has led to some people returning home and rebuilding to commence.

The Catholic Parish of Abyei continues with its pastoral presence and with the support of Caritas assists those affected by the conflict with food, shelter, healthcare and other relief supplies.
