Groups of young people from national Caritas organisations from all over the world will travel to celebrate World Youth Day with Pope Francis in Brazil.

The young people of Caritas are preparing to join millions of others from around the world to celebrate World Youth Day with Pope Francis in Brazil.
The Pope will arrive in Rio de Janeiro for the four-day event on Monday 22nd July to celebrate with the young around the theme “Go and make disciples of all nations”. The culmination of the event will be a closing mass celebrated by the Holy Father on 28th July.
Cardinal Oscar Rodriguez Maradiaga, president of Caritas Internationalis, will also be at WYD. In a message emphasising the importance of faith and charity he said, “The disciples believed in the Lord and followed his suggestions and what they received was relief from their material and spiritual hunger.”
Groups of young people from national Caritas organisations from all over the world will travel to the event. Member organisations from various countries in Latin America plus ones in Australia, Canada, Ireland, Scotland, Lebanon and England will send young people to Brazil. Secours Catholique-Caritas France will accompany 10 indigenous French Guyanans to WYD.
Caritas Brazil is coordinating Caritas activities at World Youth Day and will be present in a giant marquis (la Tienda de las Juventudes) which will host exhibitions, performances, debates and masses by a variety of organisations. Caritas Brazil will join with others in the marquis at 3.30pm on 22nd July to launch welcome activities for the pilgrims.
Caritas president, Cardinal Oscar Rodriguez Maradiaga, will meet with the young people of Caritas from 10am onwards on the morning of 23rd July at the Casa de Retiros Padre Anchieta.
Cardinal Rodriguez will also hold catecheses on 24, 25 and 26th July between 9am and 1pm. Parallel catecheses will be held by 250 bishops from all over the world according in language groups.
Caritas Brazil kicked off World Youth Day celebrations last week with a three-day meeting in Belo Horizonte to engage and inspire the young people involved with the confederation.
