 Our Work

Caritas is about more than daily survival. Our work is about ensuring the poorest and most marginalized are the driving force
in our emergency response, sustainable development and peace building. To achieve this, we focus on six key areas:
PEACE & RECONCILIATION Bringing divided communities together, Caritas builds bridges at the grassroots, nationally and internationally.
EMERGENCIES Famous for being there before, during and after a disaster, Caritas launched international responses to 40 emergencies in 2007.
ECONOMIC JUSTICE The world’s richest governments are failing the world’s poorest people by not living up to promises on aid and trade.
CLIMATE CHANGE Climate change is devastating many of the communities where we work, affecting poor people the most.
HIV & AIDS Catholic agencies provide a quarter of the HIV care in Africa, the worst hit continent.
WOMEN & MIGRATION As long as we continue to live in a world of obscene inequality, we will always have migration.
