     On behalf of the Catholic Church in Africa and Madagascar, receive our fraternal and cordial greetings on the occasion of World Aids Day 2007. This year's theme is leadership, expressed in the slogan: Take the lead. Stop AIDS. Keep the promise!   • KYIV, 29 NOV 2007 - World AIDS Day - Address of the Bishops' Synod of Kyiv and Halych Major Archbishopric of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church as regards problems connected with the expansion of HIV/AIDS epidemic in Ukraine.  "... With enormous concern we witness that the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), is becoming a reality, more and more widespread in our country, especially among youth.      "For over twenty years the Church in Kenya has been engaged in counteracting HIV and AIDS, and only God can know how generously Christians from every walk of life have given of themselves. (...) With this statement and its accompanying Inventory, the Catholic Church wishes to recognise the ministry of many pastors, priests, religious, men and women and youth who dedicate themselves with the greatest Christian compassion, faith, sensitivity and concern for those infected by HIV and affected by AIDS in Kenya.
