JRS (Jesuit Refugee Service) www.jesref.org Founded in 1980, its programmes are based in over 50 countries, providing assistance to refugees in camps, to displaced people, to asylum seekers in cities and those held in detention. The main areas of work are in the field of Education, Advocacy, Emergency Assistance, Health and Nutrition, Income Generating Activities and Social Services. There are excellent partnership and working relationships with many Caritas organisations worldwide. COATNET www.coatnet.org Started in 2001, it now unites over 40 organisations in 30 countries around the world, several of them Caritas Member Organisations. The network currently operates under the legal umbrella of Caritas Europa. ICMC (International Catholic Migration Commission) www.icmc.net Founded in 1951 by Pope Pius XII, active in advocacy for the rights of migrants, and in some assistance, relief and resettlement programmes. ICMC has close relations with Episcopal Conferences and with the Pontifical Council for Migrants. Some 30 Caritas Member Organisations are also members of ICMC. There are currently joint programmes with several Caritas organisations in the field. Caritas Europa: www.caritas-europa.org Formerly mandated with the migration portfolio on behalf of the CI Confederation, they have developed a most valuable knowledge base, expertise and range of contacts. While they focus on European policies, their experts can offer excellent advice and background information on global issues. |
