Patrick Nicholson
Head of Communications

Patrick has over 10 years of experience reporting on the developing world.

He joined the Caritas family in 2000. He worked for the Caritas England and Wales (CAFOD) award-winning media team until 2007, when he joined Caritas Internationalis.

He has reported frequently from humanitarian emergencies, from volcanic eruptions in the Democratic Republic of Congo, to the Asia tsunami in Aceh and Sri Lanka, to the 2003 March-April conflict in Iraq, where he was the only international non-governmental organization  communications officer present in the south at the time.

He travelled to the former-Yugoslavia and Rwanda to cover post-conflict peacebuilding.

His journalism has focused on economic justice and challenging the structures that keep the developing world poor. He has reported on the impact of globalization in Angola, Mozambique, Zambia, Ethiopia, Mexico and Thailand.

He has attended World Trade Organization and G8 meetings around the world. He worked on the Jubilee Debt Campaign and Make Poverty History in the UK.

He has worked with people affected by HIV and AIDS, telling their story from the ground in Kenya and on repeated trips to Cambodia. He has also attended international conferences on AIDS to push for greater access to prevention, treatment and care.
