Collapsed bridges were just one of the challenges facing Caritas when it attempted to deliver food recently to the area of Walikale in eastern Congo.

With no direct roads from the warehouse in Beni, the 800 mile journey to Walikale, North Kivu, took four days.
Violence and insecurity made the journey even longer and more perilous.
