All Things Are Still Possible

Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God,
we come humbly in prayer these last days of the calendar year.
Advent is an imperative moment to pause, to enter a deeper dialogue
with you, with our salvation history and with our deepest hopes.
Help us as we pray these weeks that we may grow more conscious
of the fullness of life in our times and our belonging to one another.
Amidst the world's weariness and lingering darkness,
help us, Lord, to not only recognize The Light - but to be light.

You visited your people.
You pitched your tent among us.
You came to be-with us forever.
You entered into time and place.
You brought what we unknowingly needed.
You invited us to be with-you in new ways.
You introduced us as one human family.
You changed our lives and our world.

Be with us, Lord - in Central African Republic
where like elsewhere good people are displaced.
Be with us, Lord - in Zimbabwe, Pakistan, Korea, Gaza
where innocent children are born broken, isolated.
Be with us also everywhere women are persecuted.
Be with us where natural leaders are oppressed.
Be with us so we grow in deep solidarity with compassion.
Be with us so we can be with indigenous people everywhere.

Long ago you were light in the desert so others could see.
You led Wise Ones to a distinct moment in Bethlehem.
Lord, lead us now that we may go fully, go truly to The Manger.
Lead us now, Lord, that we may absolutely see Your Face.
Let us not grow weary with waiting, missing the manger.
Let us go with courage and conviction to see the child, see You.
When we meet in Baghdad, Burundi, Bangui, Brazil and Juba -
Bless us with Your Light & Your Love that we might be Your Peace.

AMEN - we see what is possible.
AMEN - we wait with wonder
AMEN - we believe!
