Caritas in Latin America & Caribbean
The Caritas Latin America and Caribbean region covers a vast geographical area with great cultural and economic diversity. In many of the countries in the region, Caritas has a long history of working for the poor – over fifty years – tackling natural and man-made disasters and providing healthcare.
Working together, the members of the Caritas Latin America and Caribbean region focus on peace, social and economic justice and safe migration.

CARITAS UPDATES FROM LATIN AMERICA & CARIBBEAN
Caritas Internationalis and the Pontifical Council for the Family will host a one-day seminar on the role of the family in the global economic crisis. The meeting will look at how Caritas as the charitable arm of the Church can work through families to better promote development.
In the western hemisphere, the Church’s role as defender of migrants and refugees is more important than ever, as those on the move continue to be subject to abuse, exploitation, and violence.
Unfortunately rather than creating the conditions for a “globalisation of spirit” where we live in a state of peaceful co-existence and fraternity, we are increasingly experiencing a “globalisation of indifference”.
