Caritas in Oceania
Caritas Oceania brings together highly diverse members from the larger and smaller islands of the Pacific. These include Caritas Australia, Caritas Papua New Guinea, Caritas Samoa, Caritas Aotearoa-New Zealand, CEPAC (Caritas Pacific Islands) and Caritas Tonga. Together, they work on climate change, emergency response, peace building and development – both in their own countries and in other parts of the world.
Caritas Updates from Oceania
Caritas organisations around the world live and breathe the words of Pope Francis' message for peace.
Caritas urges governments to prioritise the needs of unaccompanied migrant children on World Migrant Day and to increase employment opportunities in home countries for young people.
Oceania includes an area referred to ‘The Amazon of the Seas’ because of its rich biodiversity. The region is vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change and we are the first people who will experience migration as a direct result of such climate conditions.
