The aim of Caritas Asia is to increase co-operation between members in order to better pool resources. Natural and man-made disasters continue to dominate much of the key work, with Caritas Asia having competences in humanitarian operations and disaster preparedness. The 2004 tsunami, extreme weather conditions, flooding, earthquakes and drought have had a devastating impact over the last five years. Conflict in Sri Lanka is also a significant cause of human suffering. Caritas Asia  engages in inter-faith dialogue as a way of promoting peace.
