Caritas Georgia, which has NGO status, works in a difficult context of political, social and economic change. Major aspects of this situation are deteriorating agricultural infrastructure, poverty – an estimated 60 percent of the population lives below the poverty line – and large-scale migration.

In view of this, Caritas Georgia has recently overhauled its organization, set up a new work plan and improved its financial system with the aim of improving the economic and social situation of the disadvantaged, the young and other needy groups. Its priorities include emergency response and rehabilitation, advocacy for peace and reconciliation, social and medical assistance for the needy, development work, training and funding of social activities.

Caritas Georgia works in partnership with a number of international agencies to implement its programmes.
