Caritas Jordan was established in 1967 to respond to the humanitarian crisis caused by the six-day war with Israel. It has since then developed into a dynamic organization that contributes to the fight against poverty and helps to promote development in various sectors of Jordanian society.

Caritas Jordan runs four clinics offering general medicine and dentistry services in Amman and Zarqa, serving 400 patients every day.

Jordan is increasingly seen as a safe haven for refugees from the occupied Palestinian territories and from Iraq. There is also a significant number of other migrants, among them thousands of women coming from Asia to work as housemaids, sometimes in very difficult conditions. Caritas Jordan has considerable experience and expertise in the fields of support for migrants and refugees. In cooperation with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and several Caritas partners, Caritas Jordan runs programmes for vulnerable migrants serving thousands of beneficiaries. Caritas Jordan has a solid team of professional staff, but also relies on the valuable support of its young volunteers.
