Caritas Oceania Caritas Oceania is the newest region of the Caritas confederation network. Its first regional conference was held in February 1999 in Wellington, New Zealand. It comprises Caritas Australia, Caritas Papua New Guinea, Caritas Solomon Islands, Caritas Aotearoa-New Zealand, CEPAC (Caritas Pacific Islands) and Caritas Tonga. Oceania is a continent of great diversity. More than three quarters of the world’s languages are spoken here. It is called home by Melanesians, Polynesians, Micronesians, Australian Aborigines and New Zealand Maori. It is also populated by people who have migrated from all corners of the earth. Caritas Oceania has worked on climate change, emergency response, peace building and development. |
