The focus for Caritas one year after the floods is on rebuilding lives whereas in the early months Caritas worked hard to respond to the immediate emergency.

Floods in Pakistan in the summer of 2010 were the worst in 80 years. As one-fifth of the country lay underwater, 18 million people struggled to find food and water and to keep a roof over their heads.
One year on, communities are still rebuilding their lives. Caritas is with the people of Pakistan as they replant their fields, work on water infrastructure and roads and rebuild their homes. Here are some stories about how Caritas has been helping the people of Pakistan:

Fresh water on tap after the floods – With funding from Caritas partners in Australia and Switzerland, Catholic Relief Services (a US member of Caritas) brought in pipes, cement and tools to restore a 9000 feet damage water pipe.
