Caritas represents the voices of poor people living in low-income countries where extreme droughts and floods are common.

World leaders, scientists, civil society and activists will gather in Paris between 30th November – 11th December for the 21st UN climate summit (COP21).

The aim of the United Nations conference is for leaders to reach a binding and universal agreement to stop the rise in temperatures and set a common framework for climate policies and programs in the future.

Caritas will be at COP21 representing the voices of those hardest hit by climate change – poor people living in low-income countries where extreme droughts and floods are common, and marginalised farmers, fishermen and pastoralists whose livelihood is threatened by erratic climate.

Caritas wants a binding and just agreement which protects Creation and human beings, and whose implementation is adequately funded. To save the planet, the change that needs to be made is profound. It’s not just about economics and politics, but about the very ways in which we live our lives and connect to the poor and the planet.
