On 12 December, Caritas Internationalis will celebrate its 70th anniversary. Seven decades have passed since the Constituent Assembly of our Confederation met in Rome from 12 to 14 December 1951.

At that time there were only 13 Caritas members in the Confederation, while today there are 162 operating in 200 countries and territories.

Since its inception, Caritas Internationalis has been entrusted with the mission of promoting the primacy of the human person at the centre of all human activities. In the aftermath of the Second World War, a moment of crisis where Europe was striving to redefine its existence, Caritas came into existence as the caring and loving hand of the Mother Church to serve and promote the human person.

This year we want to mark our anniversary by bearing witness to our work of charity in association and in communion with the poor and also offer space for testimony the unity in the diversity of a confederation which is structured in seven different regions.

Thanks to the trust you granted us and showed over years. We want to keep our promise to serve the most disadvantaged people, families, children and communities.
