Emergency appeal for Lebanon
Help us respond to Caritas Lebanon’s desperate cry for help.
“The situation is beyond imagination. We need everything, especially food, medicines and support to continue helping people.”
This is the desperate call for help of Caritas Lebanon director Rita Rhayem after the large-scale explosions hit a large part of Beirut on Tuesday 4th August.
Thousands of families were affected. So far over 135 people are dead, more than 5,000 injured, and over 300,000 people are left homeless.
“This is the first time that we have experienced a situation of such great magnitude, it is apocalyptic. Hospital are collapsing and Caritas health centres are overwhelmed and lack everything, including food to support the affected population,” added Rita Rhayem.
Caritas Lebanon is offering food, water, medical aid, psycho-social support to the population and migrants.
“It is a nightmare, but we won’t stop and we will continue to help people in need”.
