8 March 2022 - Church and society: Women as builders of dialogue

Event co-organized with the Embassy of the United Kingdom to the Holy See

This webinar will focus on the importance of women’s equal participation in decision-making for effective integral human development, building peaceful and stable societies, and achieving fraternal cooperation.

Witness, dialogue and diversity of decision-makers are key components in ensuring that society’s views, experiences and needs are represented at decision-making levels.

Highlights

Launching a dialogue process to promote the leadership, equality and participation of women in Caritas Internationalis and in communities in pursuit of peaceful and resilient societies.

A call to men and women at all levels in the Caritas Confederation, the Church, civil society and wider communities around the world to work together in cooperation through witness, dialogue and action, to promote a greater leadership, equality and participation of women in society.

The central message of this seminar will be around women’s empowerment and the central role of women in decision-making, and to build peaceful, stable and resilient societies.

One of the key needs in order to successfully change the culture around women’s leadership and participation in Caritas, the Church and society more widely is the active listening, dialogue and collaboration between men and women in Caritas, the local Church and other leaders in governments, civil society, and communities.

The synodal process of “witness and dialogue” is a useful framework for demonstrating the importance and necessity of the participation of a greater number and variety of voices in leadership and decision-making in order to have more effective, stable and healthy societies.
