Anna Urbańska is a volunteer for Caritas Poland at the border crossing in Dorohusk

She regularly works for Caritas when help is needed. This time, again, she couldn’t just stay at home. Anna felt that her hands were tied far away from the border.

She saw a call for volunteers from her local church on Facebook and decided to help. It took some days until she found a ride organized through the church.

She left her children Emilya and Antonia in the care of their grandmother and travelled to the border. At the crossing in Dorohusk, a line forms in front of the passport control. Families with children wait in the cold.

Anna works where it is needed most. Directly at the border crossing, she offers warm clothing to the arrivals, distributes food and drinks, and accompanies them across the border into Poland. She hardly sleeps – there is always something to do. Especially single travelers and families with several children need support – carrying the luggage or accompanying the children.

She has been supporting the local Caritas team for 2 days. She took a vacation this week. Next week, she will be back at work, helping people find jobs in the local labor office.
