Every day at Caritas is an unfolding story of new connections and unwavering commitment to make a profound impact on the lives of the most vulnerable. One particular morning, at approximately 6:30 am, I encountered a woman within the confines of the world’s largest refugee camp. The 2017 Rohingya influx had torn her family apart, snatching away her husband and two children. And if that wasn’t enough, the cruel night fire of 2022 further tested her spirit.
Overwhelmed by sorrow, she approached me, tears streaming down her face, and uttered,
“Could we not hope for somewhat brighter and happier days, my son? Why does God not call me? I don’t want to live with so much pain.”
While my words couldn’t erase her agony, our conversation became a glimmer of solace, and against all odds, a fleeting smile emerged from her grief-stricken face.
These are the moments that breathe life into our mission at Caritas, even in the midst of demanding emergency response efforts.
We worked tirelessly until midnight, ensuring prompt aid for those afflicted. Caritas Bangladesh responded with generosity and swiftness to our appeal. Caritas transcends being merely an organisation; The outpouring of support from our CIMOs was nothing short of remarkable, a testament to the spirit of unity and generosity that defines Caritas.

Every encounter with the community serves as a poignant reminder of the unbreakable human spirit, reinforcing my unwavering dedication to the humanitarian cause that Caritas has fostered in me.
