The Archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro, UNAIDS and the city’s state university joined their voices on 23 May to promote equality and the elimination of stigma and discrimination. Caritas Internationalis was present.
Caritas members took part in the pilgrimage to holy sites from 12 – 16 May. They witnessed the difficult lives of Palestinians and called on Christians, Muslims and Jews to work together to bring about peace.

In a message to the Gobal Forum on Migration and Development, Cardinal Oscar Rodriguez Maradiaga said, "Migrants and refugees are not a problem to be solved. They are brothers and sisters with hopes, dreams and talents."
