El 12 de diciembre, Caritas Internationalis celebrará su 70º aniversario.
Han pasado siete décadas desde que la Asamblea Constituyente de nuestra Confederación se reuniera en Roma, del 12 al 14 de diciembre de 1951. En aquellos momentos sólo había 13 miembros de Caritas en la Confederación, mientras que hoy sonay 162 que operan en 200 países y territorios. Desde su creación, a Caritas Internationalis se le ha confiado la misión de promover la primacía de la persona humana en el centro de todas las actividades de los seres humanos.
Este año queremos celebrar nuestro aniversario dando testimonio de nuestra labor caritativa y dar voz a los que no tienen voz, en las diferentes partes del traba.
Por ello, hemos organizado siete seminarios web, cada uno de ellos dedicado a una de las siete regiones de la Confederación: África, América del Norte, América Latina y el Caribe, Asia, Europa, Medio Oriente y Norte de África, y Oceanía. A continuación encontrará toda la información y los vídeos de los webinarios.
Además, cada conferencia virtual está vinculada a un proyecto ejecutado en la región correspondiente. Apoyando estos proyectos, nos permitirá seguir trabajando junto a los más vulnerables. Como venimos haciendo desde hace 70 años, especialmente gracias a su apoyo.

Seven decades of fighting against poverty and for human dignity
Haiti
The 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti about 90 miles west of the capital Port-au-Prince on the morning of Aug. 14. It was stronger than the 2010 earthquake from which the island is still recovering. The earthquake killed at least 2,207 people with more than 12,260 people sustaining injuries, according to a USAID report. Two days after the quake, Tropical Storm Grace made landfall in Haiti overnight, flooding the country with as much as 15 inches of rain in a single day in certain areas. Read more…

Caritas Internationalis’ General Secretariat has developed a three-year plan to build financial capacity and transparency in all 165 members, with training and the establishment of new accounting systems. Caritas is working in the region for Strengthening Pacific resilience to the impacts of COVID-19. Many countries in the Pacific are highly vulnerable to the COVID-19 pandemic due to underlying challenges to public health systems and access to sanitation. Read more…
Caritas to promoting social justice through sustainable opportunities and building communities

Two years after Cyclone Idai made landfall in Mozambique and set off a series of unprecedented climate-related disasters, 2.5 million people, almost half of them children, remain in need of humanitarian assistance. More than 3,000 children under the age of five have been diagnosed with life-threatening severe acute malnutrition after harvests were washed away in floodwaters. Since October 2019, the country has been going through an economic, financial and sociopolitical crisis to which the COVID-19 pandemic and the explosion of August 4, 2020 in Beirut have been added.
